ELDORADO(HK)! - 2010 Hong Kong Play Reading Festival
To celebrate our 18th year, the Hong Kong Fringe Club hosted 'Fringe Firsts', a series of playreadings of new original language drama plus a retrospective ‘Speed of Sound’ exhibition detailing how Not So Loud has developed since its founding in 1990.
Such was the festival's success that we produced a follow-up festival for 2009, alongside a staging of Rob McBride's 'Katoey' (one of the scripts featured in the 2008 festival). A further festival is now in place for 12 June 2010 at the Fringe Club main theatre, in conjunction with a full stage production of 'Shelter', developed from the script read at the 2009 festival. *
The play scripts this year are CAGED by Karen Cheung (reading at 12 noon); WHOOSH! by Rob McBride (2pm); and OTHERHOOD by Rachel Fleishman & Drue Neel Glauber (4pm). Each reading will be followed by a Q&A session with the cast, director and author on stage to answer questions from the audience.

ELDORADO(HK)! stands for English Language Drama Offering Radically Alternative and Distinctive Opportunities in Hong Kong. Yes, it's a mouthful but the plays in each year's line-up have packed the requisite punch. We expect nothing less from this year's offerings... |
